Initial Recommendations for PSD Implementation

Our system survey revealed that many, if not most, station folks just haven't been able to get their arms around the whole idea of PSD yet.  So we've written up initial recommendations to help you find a place to start within, say, the next 6 - 12 months.  We're trying to make it as easy as possible for you get your PSD service launched because, while we sympathize with your work load issues, truly we do, PSD is a really important service to your listeners and it's our mission to help you you get out there looking your very best.

Document 1:  PSD Implementation Overview
This is a non-technical overview of PSD services for managers that describes in detail the rationale behind the Baseline PSD Specification (below) and provides some scenarios for implementation. 

Document 2:  Baseline PSD Specification
This document describes a basic start-up level of PSD deployment that we believe can be reasonably implemented throughout public broadcasting in the next 6-12 months.

Document 3:  Suggested PSD Field Descriptions
This technical document proposes a group of program-specific XML fields and their descriptions.  In order for PSD text to be distributed consistently throughout the system "food chain," we need agreement on what text is needed and what format should contain it.   This document is designed to begin the conversation and to serve as the basis of our working model for PSD deployment.

Document 4:  Application Notes
This document describes in greater detail how the Field Descriptions in Document 3 above can be implemented at the station level depending on station resources.

Document 5:  Station Services Implementation
This document describes a possible implementation scenario for other PSD applications (such as station promotions, fundraising messages, or forward promos) and proposes XML field descriptions for this type of text service.
